ivy and mike engagement photos

I still remember when I first met Ivy and Mike at a coffee shop in IFC, I felt both of them were rather cool and quiet. I was a bit worried because I was not sure if I could handle “cool” people well during the shooting. Luckily, by planning the shooting together, plus going “gown hunting” with Ivy (by my partner Sam), we got to know more about this couple and we finally noticed that they are really awesome!

Having 18 groomsmen and 9 bridesmaids on their wedding day, you can imagine how good person they are. Thanks Ivy and Mike for your trust, we gained not only a business, but also friendships with two genuinely nice people.

chrisie and alan's wedding in bali

It was a wonderful experience to shoot for Chrisie and Alan’s wedding in Bali last October. I always tell my clients that I love destination weddings, especially those held at resorts with sun and sea, where the couple and all of the guests can relax and have fun . Having shot for many traditional weddings in Hong Kong, I notice that most clients will rush to finish a busy schedule on their big day without really enjoying the process. When making a comparison, I can say that the atmosphere and feelings of a destination wedding are so much better.

Thanks Chrisie and Alan for inviting me to shoot at your beautiful wedding in Bali. I particularly like those photos taken at the ceremony which was held at the Infinity Chapel of Conrad Bali. I tried to shoot from different angles, starting from your march-in outside the Chapel to your touching vows and warm hugs during the ceremony inside the Chapel with the lovely sea view as background. It wasn’t an easy task, but I hope both of you appreciate my planning and the way I document your wedding.

I look forward to shooting another destination wedding soon.

It is definitely my privilege to have shot for the beautiful bride Judy. It was a wedding back to August this year at W Hotel Hong Kong. Judy and Tim didn’t have a busy schedule on their big day, they started the day a bit late and had quite a lot of time to just relax with their friends and family. We also managed to take some photos around the Hotel area casually.
Thanks Tim and Judy for inviting me to shoot your wedding! I hope you like my photos as much as I do!

What makes a beautiful engagement photo? To me, it is not the complicated setting, lighting, or a cool pose, but the couple’s genuine smile straight from heart. Cindy and Philip, thank you so much for your trust. I know both of you just love the photos as much as I do.

Everything needs to nicely match with each other to create this Chinese vintage feeling. Thanks to Nicole’s effort in finding her beautiful Qipao, accessories, the grey vintage suit for Kwun and the many more details to make it happen. The very professional styling by Priscilla is also a key to successfully imitate such a feeling. I particularly appreciate the lace umbrella, it serves not only a nice background but also a focal point of the photo. I will give Nicole a thumbs-up!

I still remember when I first met Elaine and Louis, they told me that they had already had their pre-wedding shooting in Korea. However, Louis thought the experience wasn’t that enjoyable because he was posed rather unnaturally. Bearing this in mind, I decided to instruct Louis for action instead of still pose during our shooting. Surprisingly, I found that Louis has very active “acting cells”!! He can actually perform naturally in front of the camera. I even think he is quite photogenic! I particularly like those pictures that were taken inside the country park around sunset, in which Louis and Elaine were jumping on the grassland with funny faces and motions. The sunlight from the back also created a warm and soft feeling.

Thank you so much Elaine and Louis, all the best for your wedding in this October!

The Adorable Baby Gabby

When Sam and I first met baby Gabby, we couldn’t help falling in love with her.  Gabby is a typical lovely, chubby baby who can win everyone’s heart! We simply can’t take our eyes off her. Instead of shooting baby Gabby alone, Gabbly’s mom, Wendy, was included in some of the photos, but I intentionally kept her presence in a subtle way. Wendy’s hug and gentle touch on Gabby enrich the overall content of the photos. That’s the love between a mom and her daughter.

At time of chaos, while so many political controversies surrounding us making everyone annoyed, I hope Gabby’s photos could give you a break - to smile and to refresh! Cheers!!!

carmen and leo's wedding

I was very honoured to be invited to take pictures at Carmen and Leo’s wedding recently.  It was a very beautiful wedding held at Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong. Everything was nicely linked with the theme – Tree.

There was actually another group of professional photographers helping Carmen and Leo to document their big day.  Experience told me that it is never easy to take photos in a wedding when you could not take the lead and have full control.  Things turned out much better and enjoyable than I expected because the group of photographers I met at Carmen’s wedding was professional and nice, and they do not mind working side-by-side with other photographers.  Instead of competing with each other, both sides were allowed open space to take photos freely.  The experience this time reaffirms me photojournalism means you should be able to take pictures anywhere, under any condition and in any capacity.  Definitely, wedding photojournalists could work well together in a harmonious way with mutual respect.

Thanks Carmen and Leo for getting me such an unforgettable wedding shooting experience.  I hope my photos could be a reward to your kindness.

Kelvyna and Tsui Fung in Japan

Many people say Sakura is so beautiful that once you saw it, you will never miss it next time when you visit Japan. In early April this year, I was so glad to have a post-wedding shooting session for my best friends, Kelvyna and Tsui Fung . Early April was supposed to be the best timing for seeing Sakura in Japan, unluckily, Sakura was yet to bloom in Kyoto at the time we visited. Even worse was that we met a typhoon on the day we did photo shooting in Kyoto. Facing such an adverse situation with heavy rainfall, we could only shoot some indoor portraits in a restaurant with available light from window. Luckily, the sun came out in late afternoon which gave us last chance to take pictures at the Sagano area. Surprisingly, the “after rain” sunshine was particularly refreshing which enable us to shoot a number of lovely photos within just one hour before the sun completely went away. On the next day, we decided to visit Wakayama where Sakura were blooming. Kelvyna and Fung look so gorgeous under the Sakura trees. We had a great time there.

Macy and Regent is a pair of good looking couple and I am sure every photographer will enjoy taking pictures for them, I am of course no exception. Macy’s adorable face, sweet smile and happy tears are all the major components to make the pictures look stunning. Having said that, I do not mean having a beautiful bride ensure good pictures. As the photographer at her wedding, I hope I would not only capture her pretty face but all the important, tender and touching moments. The full of “happy tears” wedding of Macy and Regent was one of the most touching weddings that I have ever attended. I hope you enjoy seeing their photos and let’s feel their love together.

Beautiful bride Christine felt unnatural in front of camera, especially when photographer poses her for portraits. Having known her worries, I was particulary aware of my presence and tried my very best to capture her natural smile in the most quiet way. Thank you so much Christine and Keith to let me be a part of your wedding, you two look stunning in my photos.

Pregancy photos for Novia – It’s all about timing

Every pregnant woman has some kind of natural beauty. Their faces are filled with love, hope and happiness. The expected delivery date for Novia was early December, 2011; however I was busy with my wedding in November and not available to take photos for her. I finally made it right after I landed HK from my honeymoon trip , it was just one week before she gave born to her baby boy. The photos were taken at her home, and thanks to the beautiful lighting from the big window, we were able to take most of the photos within a very tiny space at her room. Thanks Novia for being my model, I know it is not easy to be posed with a big big tummy.
